Food Connects is thrilled to share the exciting news that our Executive Director, Richard Berkfield, has been appointed to Governor Phil Scott's Future of Agriculture Commission! The State of Vermont established this commission to recognize and address the critical importance of Vermont farms and local food, and we couldn't be more proud that Richard will be a part of this important work.

We’ve always known Richard to be a passionate advocate for local food systems and sustainable agriculture, so his appointment is no surprise to us! His extensive experience in the field and dedication to promoting healthy and equitable food access make him a valuable addition to the commission.

The Future of Agriculture Commission comprises agriculture, business, and conservation leaders from across Vermont who will work together to develop strategies for strengthening Vermont's agricultural economy, supporting farm viability, and ensuring access to local, healthy food for all Vermonters.

We are proud to see Richard's appointment to the commission as a reflection of the critical role that our organization plays in ensuring that Vermont remains a vibrant agricultural state. As an entrepreneurial non-profit, Food Connects delivers locally produced food and provides educational and consulting services aimed at transforming local food systems.
